WHAT IS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY EXACTLY?
Occupational therapy is a healthcare profession. It involves the use of assessment and intervention to develop, recover, or maintain the meaningful activities, or occupations, of individuals, groups, or communities. Occupational therapy considers activities of daily living, including self-care, work and play. Usually goals emphasize increasing independent function, enhancing development, and preventing disability.
What is an
Occupational Therapist?
Occupational therapists play a crucial role in assisting individuals, particularly those with disabilities. Their primary responsibility is to assess and provide treatment for people who have injuries, illnesses, or disabilities. By focusing on their clients' specific needs, occupational therapists facilitate the development, recovery, improvement, and maintenance of essential skills necessary for everyday activities, employment, and recreational pursuits.

Every intervention employed by occupational therapists takes into consideration the individual's unique goals, strengths, and weaknesses within a specific occupation.

In essence, occupational therapists meet their patients at their current stage, offering unwavering support to accomplish necessary tasks and engage in activities that hold significant value to them, regardless of any existing limitations.
INTEGRATIVE, LIFESPAN, FAMILY SYSTEMS FOCUSED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY MEANS:
I offer comprehensive care throughout every stage of life, from birth to end-of-life. My approach encompasses the entire family system, recognizing that patients should not be treated in isolation. As interconnected beings, we thrive on mutual reliance. This reality becomes even more apparent when individuals are born with evident symptoms or experience the onset of an illness or disability. During such challenging times, the support of loved ones becomes crucial, as it affects our capacity not only to carry out essential daily tasks but also to engage in activities that bring us utmost happiness.

My preference is to address the holistic needs of each individual, taking into account their physical and mental well-being. Moreover, I strive to help those who care for them understand the most effective path of care for all parties involved. By embracing this comprehensive approach, I aim to foster overall well-being and ensure the highest quality of life for my patients and their loved ones.
THIS CAN LOOK LIKE:

Working with a child on handwriting or sensory processing deficits and attending the child's IEP Meeting.
Supporting the child’s parents with manual therapy modalities that relieve stress or headaches.
Working with the grandparents on flexibility, strengthening and aging in place.
